Have You Ever Wondered About This Like I Have?

LET US

LET US

I noticed this as a young child, while I was being taught the bible in Sunday school…but somehow it always seemed to be glossed over.  What exactly does it mean in the bible when it says “Let us”?  Who is the presence of God speaking with?

The Baal Shem Tov, founder of Hassidism, gives a wonderful answer to this question. Unique among all living things, and even arousing jealousy among the angels, humans are precious to God precisely because we are created “incomplete.” So with whom does God consult in creating humans?

With us!

God gives us every opportunity to become loving, righteous, generous, creative, compassionate, “complete” beings. Every blessing and calamity that befalls us is part of that opportunity, but we’ve got to join in the work.
